Texts on Tuesday

November 10, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Because Hanukkah is soon to arrive, we’ll focus on important texts throughout Jewish history that are related to the holiday. This Tuesday, we’ll ask the question the rabbis of the Talmud asked — “What’s Hanukkah?” — with the goal of learning what traditional Jewish texts have to say about Hanukkah and what texts have been important in the traditional understanding of the holiday.

In subsequent weeks we’ll move on to learn about the “real” history behind the holiday and how the Hanukkah story contributed to the development of Jewish literature and thought over the course of the last 2000 or so years.
