Texts on Tuesday
September 1, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Tonight, Rabbi Jeremy will present Part Two of a four-part Texts on Tuesday series leading up to the High Holidays. This series will focus on Jewish ethics, in general, and specifically on Mussar, a set of ethical concepts and practices grounded in the realities of an imperfect world and the need for constant work to improve ourselves and our world.
Last Tuesday, we saw how the practical parts of the Jewish ethical philosophy of Mussar were built around a program devised by none other than Benjamin Franklin! As the month progresses, we’ll look at Mussar’s approach to questions of personal character and talk about how they can inform our modern, Humanistic approach to ethics, and (with our administrator, Tara) learn about how to tie other contemplative practices like meditation and yoga into our efforts to be more ethical people.
