Texts on Tuesday
June 2, 2020 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
The first Tuesday of the month is a standing program called “What’s That About?,” where we look at a specific major Jewish literary work or genre. This week, What’s That About? will focus on midrash, one the most important ways in which the rabbis interpreted the Bible to make it meaningful. Midrash as a method, and its resulting texts, are still heavily used today. We’ll explore the basics of how midrash works and look at specific examples to understand what midrash is and why we’d want to study it today.
