A message from Rabbi Jeremy:

Dear Macharniks,

We live in a frightening moment of U.S. history. There’s no point denying it or saying it’s better than it is.

At this moment, we don’t know what the outcome of this election will be. We have our hopes and our fears. We have either done or we will do what we can to ensure that we’ve participated in the election.

We are left waiting. And we may wait far too long for a result.

I know many of us will be following election returns closely on Tuesday evening.

On Wednesday evening, I’ll host an open Zoom session where we can talk and share our concerns. It will be pretty unstructured: I want to make sure you’re able to connect with our community as events jangle our nerves.

As we wait, please remember that this community is here to listen to you.

I am here to listen to you.

I can’t make it better. But if you need to talk to someone and your friends and family are tired of listening, you can talk to me.

If you’re looking for ways to get involved in defending the election process, you can ask me.

Due to COVID-19, some of us are not able to join in-person protests. I’m part of that number, at least for now. Knowing that our neighbors have not been careful enough to ensure our safety from disease is among the parts of this moment in history that make me feel the most powerless. If not being able to speak out frustrates you: you aren’t alone. Call me; I’ll listen.

Whatever you do, however you feel: you don’t have to feel that way alone. Please consider joining me beginning at 7 pm on Wednesday. The Zoom session link is below.

Please reach out if you need help or someone to talk to.

Rabbi Jeremy
