Juneteenth: this week’s Kabbalat Shabbat coincides with Juneteenth, which marks the day on which Blacks in Texas learned — two years after the Emancipation Proclamation — that they were freed from chattel slavery. This Shabbat, we’ll stop, listen to Black voices, and discuss paths toward action against racism as Humanistic Jews.
