As part of HIAS’s National Refugee Shabbat, Machar’s Tikkun Olam Committee is sponsoring a Havdalah to mark the end of Shabbat at 6:00 pm on March 21, in the chapel at Cedar Lane UU Church (MAP). All Macharniks are invited to celebrate the roles of immigrants and refugees in our country and in Jewish history. Rabbi Jeremy will lead the service, and we will hear from a speaker from the Congregation Action Network (CAN). CAN has worked on campaigns supporting immigrants and refugees, including efforts to prevent deportation, know-your-rights campaigns, sanctuary for immigrants at risk of deportation, and advocacy work. Light refreshments will be available.
