Humanistic Jewish Cultural School Teachers
Machar, the Washington Congregation for Secular Humanistic Judaism, seeks enthusiastic teachers for our Jewish Cultural School.
We meet every other Sunday beginning September 18 and are based in Washington DC. Our children are encouraged to build positive Jewish identities and to become independent thinkers. They learn about Jewish culture, history, values and holidays – all from a secular perspective. Classes include experiential learning and it’s expected we will have a small number of field trips.
In-person JCS classes have met at a Jewish day school in northwest DC near 16th Street NW, and we plan to resume classes there again this year, under prudent, safe conditions of course. We're looking for excited, energetic teachers with some background in Judaism or Jewish Education.
The position pays $80/session. Classes are 1.5 hours (10AM – 11:30AM) plus a 30 minute teacher meeting before class (9:30AM – 10AM).
With Rabbi Jeremy Kridel as JCS Director, this will be another exciting year.
Please send your resume and a cover note to education@machar.org ASAP if you're interested!
