Forum on the Economic Crisis
Co-Sponsored by Machar

3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

A Forum on the economic crisis and how the Jewish community can help will be held at Temple Shalom, 8401 Grubb Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Machar members are encouraged to attend. Other sponsoring organizations include Jews United for Justice, Temple Shalom, and JCRC, and other congregations in central Montgomery County. Speakers will include Beverly Wagner from Interfaith Works, George Leventhal from the Montgomery County Council, state Senator Jamie Raskin, and others. This initial meeting is likely to be followed by additional opportunities to work on specific issues and priorities.

The idea for the Forum comes from Shirat HaNefesh, another progressive Jewish community led by Rabbi Gerry Serotta. We thank our 4th grade Sunday school teacher, Ira Zuckerman, for connecting us to this event, a natural one for Machar co-sponsorship.
